"Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen, such alone will shake the gates of hell and set up the kingdom of heaven on earth."
Electrifying Three-Day Events for Your Church!
The Amazing John WesleyYour congregation will hear the thrilling and often shocking story of the courageous founder of the Methodists. I summarize Wesley's balanced, biblical beliefs, which he said his true followers would always hold. I will leave with your congregation a copy of The John Wesley Express, my new curriculum. In a three-month study they will learn in detail all about Methodism's beginnings. The Express lays out a clear, workable plan by which your church may return to growth using John Wesley's principles. Most of these I used as pastor of Oakwood United Methodist Church in Lubbock, Texas. In four years the church grew in worship attendance from under 100 to over 300.The Amazing John Wesley ReturnsIf you liked The Amazing John Wesley, you will love this followup. I will share many more hair-raising stories from early Methodism. We will examine the way Wesley structured the early Methodists (societies, classes and bands), and discuss specific ways we can reproduce his principles to make the church grow. For an even better AJW event, schedule Roger Nelson for a fourth and final night, to bring his dramatic portrayal of John Wesley: The Man from Aldersgate. www.a1manplay.com Kingdom Come AdventureMany people believe in Jesus, but are still unhappy. All of us have access to two voices: worldly urging and Kingdom guidance. Most of us are so conditioned by the world, we subconsciously, habitually react to our worldly voice, and then wonder why are lives are troubled. The Kingdom Come Adventure explores listening and responding to our Kingdom voice as a way of life, and finding happiness in spite of personal problems. This is excellent for churches that are experiencing apathy, membership decline, contentiousness or other ongoing problems. We will practice living in Heaven while we are still on Earth. We will take seriously, "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven." (Matt. 6:10) For a better KCA, invite Dr. Tom Nisbett to come with me. Tom holds a PhD in Economics. Among other things he will discuss our current economic crisis, and how Christians should respond to it.Harvestime Adventure
Any church surrounded by houses can grow, without a budget increase! The biggest change that needs to take place is in our minds. For ten years I studied Church Growth, and applied its principles as pastor of Oakwood UMC in Lubbock. After 17 straight years of decline, Oakwood grew from under 100 in worship to over 300 in four years. I will share how that happened, and how your congregation can experience similar results.
Discipleship AdventureReal discipleship is an every-hour way of life. It is simply the best, healthiest way to live. Even so, many Christians never contemplate what discipleship actually means. Consequently, their lives are purposeless, and they influence few toward God's Kingdom. Jesus told us to follow Him continually, down to our smallest choices. We will examine Scripture, and explore what it means to follow Jesus seriously in a world of compromise and extremes. We will uncover many fascinating hidden treasures in the New Testament Greek text that are obscured in most English translations.Kingdom Connection AdventureWe will explore the Bible's directives to meet together in worship, classes and small groups. Christians are faithful and obedient when we get together. When we assemble, many life-giving things happen that do not occur when we isolate ourselves. Your congregation will study why we will gather regularly if we would be faithful. I will lay out a clear, step-by-step plan of developing a small group ministry in your church.Campmeeting! We will hold an old-fashioned revival in the tradition of the early American Campmeeting. This can take place outdoors if weather permits. We'll have lots of gospel music, evangelistic preaching and fried chicken.
Great Songs of the SaviorI would love to come to your church and hold a worship service in Christian music: traditional, contemporary and original.
Moral MerrimentTo many folks who are shopping for a church home, we seem entirely too serious! Where is it written that Christians aren't supposed to laugh? Scripture is full of humor, though it is Eastern and thus hard to detect. Laughter is healing. Merriment is medicinal! Invite me to present an evening of ecclesiastical enjoyment and Christian fun to your congregation or civic group.Magic with a MessageChildren are fascinated with visual illusions, so I have put together a 30-minute program for kids. I will make things disappear, color coloring books without crayons, cut ropes and restore them, and float objects in the air with no visible means of support! Each trick illustrates a Christian truth.
